Everyday Face Makeup Go-Tos

I do not really have that much in my make-up collection. I am still starting out and still learning how to put them on like a pro. Plus, I also do not have much of a budget to buy a lot of make-up at the moment, or rather, I prefer splurging on clothes instead of make-up right now, so most of the items in my make-up collection are drugstore brands.

However, when I went to the restroom upon getting home from a long day at the mall and had the chance to look at myself in the mirror, I instantly fell in love with the blush I had on then. That was also the moment I thought of writing about the face make-up products that I have grown to love so far, as I believe I am in love right now with enough products to actually have something to share.

I haven’t really tried more extravagant make-up looks so the products listed here are products that I love and use for everyday make-up.

FOUNDATION: Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse

I have been using this foundation for a long time already. I find the coverage good. It also does not leave my skin oily and it holds up until the end of the day. I find this product really impressive. I use this when I go to school and there are times that I sweat a lot. Despite that, the foundation stays and does not turn tacky and sticky. It is also very light on the skin, and is very easy to blend.

POWDER: Maybelline Mineral Compact Powdermaybelline-pure-mineral-2-ways-healthy-perfecting-uv-compact-foundation-case-po1Well, I basically use this compact powder to somehow set my make-up and to keep my face less shiny. I find that it does the job well, though I am thinking of trying other powders like Rimmel’s Stay Matte Pressed Powder for the sake of exploration. The shade they have isn’t really perfect for me so I do not apply a lot of product on my face. Still a good product though! It goes well with my foundations (especially the Dream Matte Mousse) and does not leave my face cakey even after a long day. It is also mineral so it does not clog my pores.

I think this product has already been discontinued and replaced by a loose version.

CONCEALER: Shiseido Natural Finish Cream Concealer0730852105096This is actually the first concealer I have tried and I like it so far. It is really easy to blend and is long-wearing. Just a small amount of this product could already go a long way.

BLUSH: Shiseido Luminizing Satin Face Colour in RD103

Now this is what I recently just fell in love with! I put my make-up by a lamp so when I first applied this, I was actually quite unsure of it as I thought it was too much and too pink for my skin. However, it actually just leaves a subtle peachy pink color. It really looks really pretty and natural, and the best part is that it lasted the whole day when I went to the mall. I do not really know yet if it would hold up that long when I go to places that are hot or when there are times that I become sweaty though. I just love this blush so much right now!

As I am still a beginner and as I prefer simple and natural-looking make-up looks for my everyday make-up at the moment, I have not explored bronzers, contour products, and highlighters that much yet.

It sure has been a while since I last posted and during the time I have been gone, the things I tried and found have accumulated. That is why I decided to just put them all together (the things I have fallen in love with, at least) in one post.

  1. Me Before You (Book & Movie)

I admit, I only tried reading the book because of all the hype and because I want to experience the movie as one who has read the book. I have grown to love it though as I went from chapter to chapter. In my opinion, it is not the type of book that would make you feel all giddy, feeling you have butterflies swarming in your stomach. However, as you go through the story you would realize how you have grown closer to the characters to be able to empathize with them and have a lot of feels in the latter part of the book. This is definitely one of the few books that have made me cry so hard. I cried over three consecutive chapters, can you believe it?! I think that was a first for me.

You may think that because I have already read the book and know every single thing that is going to happen already that I would not be that vulnerable to the story anymore. Well, that was what I thought (and feared)… but I was wrong. Oh boy was I wrong. I watched the movie with my mom and being the crybabies that we are, we bawled our eyes out. I think I even cried harder watching the movie than I did while reading the book.

Apparently there is a sequel to the book, and honestly, I do not want to read it mainly because Lou moves on from Will there. Sigh. I just love Will so much but I guess that is reality. It sucks.

2. MeNow Kissproof Soft Lipstick (Shade #6)

This shade is brown-ish with a hint of pink, and I love it because it is a good everyday lipstick for me. It is also transfer-proof and long-wearing. The downside of this lipstick though is that it is very drying since it is matte. To counter that you have to regularly exfoliate your lips, and I do that by just wetting a face towel and using it to rub my lips once a week. Also, since it is very long-wearing, you are in trouble if by any chance you make a mistake while putting them on. I realized that the hard way. On my first application, I made a mistake and put lipstick beyond my lip area, and had to wash the lower part of my face and re-do my make-up in that area. What was worse then was that I was in a hurry since people were waiting for me. So from that I learned that with this lipstick you really have to be careful.

3. K-Palette Lasting 2-Way Eyebrow Pencil 1 Day Tattoo

I love this eyebrow pencil so much! It comes with a powder on one side as well. It is very easy-to-use and I have found my eyebrows really on fleek whenever I use this pencil. It is also long-wearing for my skin type. It is a bit on the pricey side though, costing more or less P800. I actually just got this as a hand-me-down from my mom since it was not long-wearing for her.

4. Spinning Class

Whenever I go to the gym, I would usually go for the Zumba class mainly because it is fun for me especially when the instructors use pop songs instead of the usual Zumba tunes. However, the dance area of the gym I go to is undergoing renovation this month so Zumba classes would not be held for the time being. Instead of doing Zumba, I opted to run on the treadmill instead since I basically go to the gym to move my body around and sweat, but after some time I found it a bit boring. And so I tried to go to the spinning class.

I have tried it before actually but it is only now that I became a regular. I realized that I sweat more spinning than in doing Zumba. It is also more fun for me because the music is more modern and because I do not realize the time when I am on my bike. Other than that, I also like how the instructors have really different styles when it comes to teaching spinning. I go to spinning class thrice a week, every other day, and I found spinning classes more varied as compared to Zumba classes. I do not know which is more efficient though when it comes to burning calories. I guess my priority now is to have a routine that would actually make me excited to go to the gym. In the meantime, spinning class is able to do that.

5. The Yard at Xavierville

I am such a sucker for food parks like StrEAT in Maginhawa and Z Compound in Malingap and The Yard is the newest that is well within my commuting reach. It being at Xavierville makes it so easy for me to go there as I could just walk (if I am not too lazy) or take the tricycle. It holds a lot of interesting and varied food stalls (30 actually) which makes it really exciting for me. From Japanese food to steaks to milkshakes and more, The Yard, I believe, would most likely have whatever you are craving for the afternoon or evening. I have went there twice already in only one week and I plan on going back to try more of what the different food stalls are offering.

So far, I have tried Smoke & Barrel‘s The Beast, Hongkong Foodie Streetfood‘s lobster balls, scallop cake, and one of their bacon-wrapped offerings (forgot what it is called),  The Chippery‘s mussel cone, Puluts‘s tusok-tusok (fishballs, squidballs and kikiam), Tokyo Tempura Unlimited‘s ebi tempura, Gulp Station‘s green tea and lychee (this is sugarfree, guys!) and ceylon tea, and Rustic Box Steakhouse‘s T-Bone Steak with the Rustic Box Special sauce and garlic rice.

From what I have tried my favorites are the mussel cone from The Chippery, the green tea and lychee drink from Gulp Station, as well as the T-Bone Steak with the Rustic Box Special sauce plus garlic rice from Rustic Box Steakhouse.
