2017 Everyday Make-up Essentials

Yep, I’m still alive and today, I feel like sharing an updated list of my everyday make-up essentials. I feel like my preferences have changed a bit. I am now more of a minimalist when it comes to everyday make-up, unlike before when I was still exploring and layering all types of products I could find on my face. From putting on a base + concealer + powder + contour + bronzer + blush + lips + brows + highlight combination, I now only put on five types of products. Maybe I just got lazy, but this works for me. These essentials help me look presentable day and night, without feeling like I have a lot on my face:

BASE: Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream (Shade: No. 27 Honey Beige)

I finally found a BB cream with a shade for my skin-tone. I am morena so it’s rare to find BB creams in retail stores that suit my skin tone, so I was really happy when I found one supplier online that sells this shade. I love this BB cream so much as it has enough coverage (you can layer it as much as you want to achieve the coverage you need), plus it is also very lightweight on the skin. Aside from that, despite times when I sweat a lot, I do not feel that oily and heavy feeling I get from foundations. It is a bit pricey though, as compared to other BB creams, and shades from the line, but it’s worth it! I apply this by patting product on my face with my Tony Moly Air Puff. (BONUS TIP: I recently bought Etude House’s slim air puff and I don’t like it at all! Tony Moly’s is better in terms of application, blending, and the overall feel I get when using it.)

CONCEALER: Maybelline Fit Me Concealer (Shade: 35 Deep)

This gives me the coverage I need. It really covers my dark spots, and it doesn’t break me out. This is much better than my Shiseido concealer before, and you could get it at a very affordable price.

SETTING POWDER: Nichido Final Powder

Many Filipino youtubers swear by this, so I decided to try it. I was wary at first of buying from this brand as it might break me out but it didn’t. This helps set my make up in place, and you could get so much product for only P150! It’s a loose powder though so I don’t like bringing it with me on-the-go. I heard that this is perfect for baking as well. It is also compared often to Laura Mercier’s.

BROWS: Maybelline Fashion Duo Brow Shaper (Shade: Dark Brown)

I am fortunate that I do not have sparse brows so I do not really need to fill my brows that much. I find that this product does enough for me in terms of definition. I love the pencil side of the product, though I only seldom use the powder side.

BLUSH: Shiseido Luminizing Satin Face Colour (Shade: RD103) OR Ever Bilena Advance Lip and Cheek Stain (Shade: Very Red)

For blush, I still use my Shiseido one whenever I’m too lazy to use my hands to blend my Ever Bilena tint. As for the tint, I do not like using it on my lips as I found that it is very drying (and bitter in taste), though I find it really good for the cheeks. It lasts long and it gives me that natural rosy cheeks look I want.

LIPS: KJM Lip and Cheek Tint

I love KJM’s lip and cheek tints. They are not very drying, plus they aren’t bitter, unlike Ever Bilena’s. I find that using my Carmex lip balm beforehand helps in spreading the tint on my lips. I have 3 shades with me: Bittersweet Magenta, Dolly and Summer Kiss, but Bittersweet Magenta is usually my go-to out of the three. These tints do not last long though, but I do not find it that much of a hassle to do touch-ups from time to time.
